NI Water is thanking customers across Northern Ireland for doing their bit to save water during the recent spell of hot weather. The small changes people have made have helped reduce pressure on the water network at a time when demand for water has soared.
NI Water is asking everyone to keep up the good work as the warm weather continues.
NI Water’s Head of Water, Paul Bryce, said: "We want to say a huge thank you to everyone who has taken simple steps to use water wisely over the past few days. Customers have really stepped up and every water-saving action, no matter how small, has helped us keep water flowing to homes and businesses across Northern Ireland.”
Some simple water-saving tips:
- Using a watering can instead of a hose.
- Giving the sprinkler a rest.
- Keeping a jug of water in the fridge.
- Only running washing machines and dishwashers when full.
- Turn off the tap when brushing your teeth
Paul added: “While you're helping us keep the taps flowing, we can help you too. NI Water is encouraging anyone who may need a little extra support during a supply interruption to sign up to its free Customer Care Register. Customers can also register for free text alerts so they can receive updates straight to their phone if there's an unplanned interruption in their area. To sign up for either service, visit NI Water's Customer Care Register or Register for Keeping You Informed.”

Notes to Editors
- NI Water is reminding the public to stay safe around reservoirs. Reservoirs may look calm and inviting, but they are working sites and can be extremely cold, deep and dangerous. Swimming, paddling, inflatables, paddle boarding and other water-based activities are not permitted at NI Water reservoirs.
- Visitors should respect safety signage, stay back from the water’s edge, supervise children closely and keep dogs on leads near water. If someone gets into difficulty, do not enter the water; call 999 or 101 and ask for the fire service if inland.
