Men's Health Week 2011

In support of International Men’s Health Week, NI Water is attending an event at Belfast City Hall on Tuesday 14th June, organised by the Belfast HSC Trust, to encourage men to look after their health and wellbeing and start by drinking the recommended 6-8 glasses of tap water per day.

There are numerous health benefits associated with drinking water such as:

· Healthy skin, bones, hair and nails;

· Better memory and concentration;

· Extra energy;

· Reduction in cramps and tiredness;

· Ideal for children, young, and the old as water does not contain sugar, so doesn’t damage your teeth.

Jane Jackson, Education Manager at NI Water explains:

“Water is a basic nutrient of the human body and is essential for all life forms to survive. It is essential to keep your body hydrated, flush toxins from your system whilst retaining vital vitamins and minerals. It forms a major part of your blood (approximately 82%), lubricates your joints and eyes, aids digestion and helps you look better by keeping skin smooth and elastic.

“Men’s Health Week is focused at raising awareness of the health issues that affect men and to encourage them to get these checked out. We are therefore calling on all the men out there to look after their health and as a starting point, to increase their daily water intake.”
