NI Water Sewer works – Sand Road/Galgorm Road, Ballymena

 | NI Water News

NI Water, through our appointed contractor, E Quinn Civils Ltd. is currently undertaking work on a new storm sewer in the Sand Road / Galgorm Road area of Ballymena.  The ongoing work involves laying 400m of storm sewer to serve a new housing development currently under construction on the Sand Road.

Following a two-week suspension to facilitate the Irish Open Golf, work on the verge adjacent to Galgorm Road is now almost complete and the next section will involve crossing the Galgorm roundabout in 3 separate phases (see below).

Traffic arrangements have been agreed with the Department for Infrastructure.  In order to minimise the impact of these work on residents, business and road users and allow work to be carried out safely, they will be undertaken outside of peak hours, with some night-time/early morning works.

Phase 1:
Monday 19th – Thursday 22nd October between 7pm and 6am

Traffic control will be in operation overnight on the roundabout with a diversion in place for traffic accessing the Galgorm Castle complex.

Phase 2:
Monday 26th – Friday 30th October between 9.30am and 3pm

Traffic will be reduced to a single lane through the roundabout during the day.

Phase 3:
Monday 2nd – Friday 5th November between 7pm and 6am

Traffic control will be in operation overnight on the roundabout with a diversion in place for traffic accessing the Galgorm Castle complex.

All appropriate signage and temporary traffic controls will be in place during these times, however, delays should be expected.

NI Water is aware of the disruption this type of work can cause to residents, particularly when undertaken at night.  We will endeavour to minimise noise as far as is possible during the night time/early morning works.

NI Water and our contractor E Quinn Civils Ltd. would like to thank the public for their ongoing patience and cooperation while we complete this essential work.

We are all practising social distancing – our priority is to keep customers and colleagues safe. So please keep your distance and our workers will carry on with their essential work for you.

A few key points to remember:
• Remember wipes will clog the sewers and result in blockages and flooding – never flush a wipe. For further information log on to  www.niwater.com/bag-it-and-bin-it/

• Beware of Bogus Callers – if you are concerned about the identity of someone at your door, you can call the PSNI non-emergency number ‘101’ where you will have the option of a ‘Quickcheck’ to confirm the caller is from the utility they say they are.

• Do not let children go near work sites or equipment, this can be extremely dangerous.
