how to save water

Water, sewerage and trade effluent charges

Large user tariff

Customers who use in excess of 100,000m3 of water per annum, and who have implemented water efficient practices can apply for the large user tariff.

The large user tariff is similar to the standard metered rate in that it is made up of a standing charge and a volumetric charge.

The standing charges are the same as those that apply to the measured tariffs, but the volumetric charge is discounted for usage in bands of consumption above 100,000m3 per annum. The charges provide a discounted volumetric rate for various bands of consumption.

Eligibility will depend, not only upon consumption but also upon the commitment of the customer to water efficiency. This may include, but is not restricted to, the installation of water saving devices, recycling plants and a review of water efficiency by independent industry experts.

The Large User bands and discounted rates are as follows:

A customer on the large user tariff will pay the standard volumetric rate for the first 100,000 m3 consumption each year. The 20% discount rate will be applied to further consumption up to 250,000 m3. The higher rates will apply to further consumption above 250,000 m3 and 500,000m3 respectively.
