NI Water Invests £2.8m in Dungiven

Local residents in Dungiven are set to benefit from a major investment by Northern Ireland Water (NI Water). Approximately £2.8m is being spent to improve and upgrade Dungiven Wastewater Treatment Works (WwTW), which will see enhanced service provision in the area, allowing for future growth and development. In addition, the scheme will improve the quality of the River Roe and the long term viability of species and habitats of high conservation importance.

Michael Donnelly, NI Water Project Manager said:

“We are looking forward to bringing significant benefits to our customers through this programme of work, which includes the construction of a new inlet, expansion of the current treatment processes and the refurbishment of some of the existing facilities.”

The majority of work will take place within the perimeter of the current site which is based on Pellipar Lane, just off the main A6 Road. In anticipation that drivers on the A6 could experience minor delays, NI Water will put necessary signage in place and will liaise closely with Roads Service to ensure an appropriate traffic management system is established. The work is expected to commence on the 9th November 2009.
