NI Water Welcomes Regulator's Report

14 December 2010 14:08

NI Water has welcomed the recently published report by the Utility Regulator into the company’s performance.

Describing the report as a, "fair and balanced reflection of the progress that has been made in the company’s first three years of operation," Ronan Larkin the Director of Finance and Economic Regulation at NI Water said the company was determined to continue to close the gap which exists between it and water companies elsewhere.

"What we are doing at NI Water is closing a gap which has been greater than 20 years in the making.

We acknowledge that the Regulator has recognised that real progress has been achieved. We also accept that work still needs to be done.

No one within NI Water underestimates the challenges that lie ahead particularly within a difficult economic environment but we believe that working with the Regulator and other stakeholders we can build on the solid foundations already laid.

We have achieved the best water quality ever on this island, as well as reducing leakage levels and increasing compliance across the piece in terms of waste water."
