Sewer Improvement scheme to get underway at King Street Roundabout

24 January 2011 7:59

NI Water is scheduled to commence work on upgrading the sewerage system in the King Street Roundabout area of L/Derry. Our main works location will be at the bottom of Alfred Street. The majority of this work will take place on the verge, with some work taking place on the road, however traffic will not be disrupted. This work will commence on 31st January 2011 and will last for approximately 21 weeks.

This project represents a small part of an overall investment of £27 million in the city’s wastewater infrastructure, which will facilitate planned and future development on both sides of the Foyle as well as reducing the potential for ‘out of sewer’ flooding in the area. The scheme will also improve the water quality in the River Foyle and will help meet NI Environment Agency Standards.

NI Water would like to thank the public for their patience while we complete this essential scheme and will do everything we can to minimise disruption. Customer queries should be directed to Waterline on 08457 440088.
