New Wastewater Treatment Works for Glasdrumman

09 June 2011 14:49

NI Water is investing £806,000 in Glasdrumman by providing a new Wastewater Treatment Works (WwTW) for the area. The existing facility was under pressure to meet demand and the new works will now provide increased treatment capacity. Work is underway on the new Glasdrumman facility and is expected to be completed by early 2012. The new works will effectively meet increasing demand and future growth within the Glasdrumman and Dunmore Cottages catchments.

Aaron Vogan, Project Manager with Northern Ireland Water said:
"The new Works will provide an improved wastewater treatment facility for customers in the Glasdrumman area and will also have a positive impact on water quality in nearby waterways. This new plant will enable NI Water to fully comply with the standards required by the Northern Ireland Environment Agency. Added to this, the works will have the capacity to deal with potential population growth in the area."

The contractor for this scheme is BSG Civil Engineering Ltd, with NI Water and McAdam Design as Project Managers.
