Sewer Improvement Work To Begin In L'Derry

NI Water will be carrying out Sewer Improvement Work from the 18th July 2011 in the Simpson’s Brae area of L’Derry for approximately 9 weeks. This is part of an ongoing sewer improvement programme throughout the city.

Work will get underway on Simpson’s Brae for 4 weeks, followed by work on Spencer Road from the junction of Simpson’s Brae to Chapel Road for two weeks. Finally, work will take place on Chapel Road from the Spencer Road junction to the Primrose Street junction for a period of 3 weeks. As with all work of this nature, there will be an element of disruption and traffic management will be in place during this period as follows:

”¢ Simpson’s Brae: road closed to through traffic for 4 weeks;
”¢ Spencer Road (Simpson’s Brae to Chapel Road): lane closures in place for approximately 2 weeks;
Ӣ Chapel Road (Spencer Road to Primrose Street junction): road closed for approximately 3 weeks.

This work is part of a wider £27 million programme of investment for the city which will improve the sewerage infrastructure, reduce the risk of out of sewer flooding and will meet the city’s existing and future development needs.

NI Water and its contractor, Shearwater Consortium, would like to thank the public in advance for their patience, and assure them that we will do everything we can to complete the work as quickly as possible. There may be an element of traffic disruption, however, any necessary diversions will be signposted.
