Essential Sewer Improvement Work planned for Burren, Co Down

18 May 2012 15:09

NI Water is pleased to announce that an essential Sewer Improvement Scheme along Milltown Street, Burren will get underway in mid June 2012 and will continue until the end of August 2012. The scheme will improve the sewerage infrastructure and reduce the risk of out of sewer flooding in the area.

The project involves the replacement and upgrade of the existing sewer along its route on Milltown Street, Burren from St Mary’s Church to the road junction with The Avenue. This new section of sewer pipe will span approximately 726 metres and represents a capital investment by NI Water of approximately £200,000.

We will initially commence work on the B7 on Milltown Street under a system of traffic lights in mid June 2012, where two-way traffic will be maintained. However, due to road safety reasons for both vehicular and pedestrian traffic together with the health and safety considerations for construction workers, we will need to implement a 6 week road closure during July and August 2012.

NI Water and our contractor Lowry Brothers Ltd would like to thank the public in advance for their patience and cooperation and will do everything possible to minimize disruption and complete this essential improvement work as quickly as possible. All traffic diversions will be clearly signposted and access for residents and businesses will be maintained at all times during the road closure.
