NI Water Sewer Rehabilitation Work Gets Underway – Springwell Park, Groomsport

23 January 2018 10:27

NI Water, through our appointed contractor Conwell Contracts Ltd will commence sewer rehabilitation works in the Donaghadee Road and Springwell Park areas of Groomsport during the week commencing 29th January 2018. This will include works on Groomsport Road, Donaghadee Road, Springwell Park and Springwell Crescent. We anticipate these works will take approximately 4 months to complete.

This represents an investment of approximately £220,000 by NI Water to improve the existing infrastructure in the area, reducing the risk of out of sewer flooding and environmental pollution.

Detailed traffic arrangements have been discussed with the Department for Infrastructure to try to minimise the impact of these works on residents, businesses, road users and the public. Work will commence on the Donaghadee Road, and in order to carry out this section of work safely it will be necessary to have a temporary road closure in place for up to 10 weeks. Vehicular access will be maintained for residents where possible and pedestrian access will be available at all times.

Businesses on the Main Street Donaghadee will be open as usual throughout these works, with access to most businesses remaining available from the Groomsport Road roundabout, and a diversion route will also be in place via A2 Donaghadee Road.

Once this section is completed, works will progress onto the A2 Donaghadee Road, with a lane closure in place for up to 5 weeks, and then will move into Springwell Park.

Normal working hours will be 8.00am to 5.30pm; however, it may be necessary on occasions for the work to be undertaken outside of these hours.

NI Water appreciate that this work is disruptive, and would like to thank the public for their patience and co-operation. We will do everything we can to reduce disruption while we complete these essential works. Customer queries should be directed to Waterline on 03457 440088.
