NI Water Sewer Rehabilitation Work Continues – Springwell Park, Groomsport

15 May 2018 15:59

Works are progressing well on this essential sewer project, which represents a £220,000 investment by NI Water to improve and upgrade the existing infrastructure in Groomsport. When complete this project will reduce the risk of out of sewer flooding, environmental pollution and help improve the bathing waters in the area.
Sewer laying work is nearing completion on the A2 Groomsport bypass, and will be progressing into Springwell Park. This section of work will involve the laying of approximately 70m of combined sewer and associated manholes as far as the junction with Springwell Crescent.

Detailed traffic arrangements have been discussed with Department for Infrastructure to try to minimise the impact of these works on residents, road users and the public.  In order to carry out the work safely it will be necessary to have a temporary lane closure in place on a short section of Springwell Park. This will be in place for approximately 4 weeks commencing Monday 14th May. Vehicular access will be maintained for residents throughout the works, however may be subject to delay.  Pedestrian access will be available at all times. Parking will not be permitted within the working area during this time, and our contractor will liaise directly with the residents involved regarding access arrangements.

Normal working hours will be 8.00am to 5.30pm; however, it may be necessary on occasions for the work to be undertaken outside of these hours.

NI Water fully appreciate that this work is disruptive and would like to thank residents, business owners, the public and commuters for their ongoing patience and cooperation. We will continue to do everything possible to reduce disruption while we complete these essential works. Customer queries should be directed to Waterline on 03457 440088.
