SEWER WORKS COMPLETE - LOWER ORMEAU ROAD/ORMEAU AVENUE/CROMAC STREET JUNCTION

09 August 2019 16:38

Work is now nearing completion on this major £5 million project to improve the sewerage infrastructure in the Ormeau area, which included work around Ormeau Avenue/Lower Ormeau Road, Dublin Road, Bruce Street, Sandy Row, Joy Street and sections of the Lower Ormeau Road.

NI Water is pleased to announce that the works around the junction of Lower Ormeau Road / Ormeau Avenue/Cromac Street are now complete, a week ahead of programme, and the junction is fully re-opened to traffic. Work will now continue on Bankmore Street.

This major investment will significantly reduce the risk of out of sewer flooding in this area of Belfast during periods of heavy rainfall. Environmental pollution will also be reduced, and the water quality in the Blackstaff Culvert and River Lagan will be enhanced.

NI Water is aware of the significant disruption caused by this last major section of works and would like to thank businesses, road users and the public for their continued patience and cooperation during the completion of this major construction project within Belfast City Centre.

ENDS.
