NI Water are delighted to welcome a Bangor based plastics company as the latest partners in its Refillution campaign, aimed at encouraging everyone to commit to refilling a reusable water bottle with tap water and stop buying single use plastic bottles.

Angela Halpenny, Northern Ireland Water Head of Environmental Regulation says, “We are delighted to see Denroy come on board with NI Water’s Refillution campaign and we are hopeful that other businesses will also get involved. We are asking everyone to ditch single use plastic water bottles and switch to a reusable one that can be refilled from the tap!”

In partnership with NI Water, Ards and North Down Council are encouraging local businesses to sign up to supporting the campaign. Businesses will display a sticker in the window, welcoming members of the public into their shop or café where they see the ‘Refillution’ sign and allowing them to refill their reusable bottle with tap water.

David Dickson, Operations Manager at Denroy commented, “It’s great that Denroy is taking an active part in reducing single use plastics by joining NI Water’s Refillution. This fits perfectly with Denroy’s strategy of working towards full recycling of all internal plastic waste and our commitment to eliminate single use plastics in our Denman brand hairbrushes by 2020. It also helps us promote a healthier workplace, which is a win-win for everyone.”

The Water industry has a strong focus on the environment and is committed to tackling the problems caused by plastic bottles which block up our rivers and drains, and pollute our seas. Northern Ireland uses 145 million single use plastic bottles every year. By switching to a reusable bottle, people can help turn the tide in reducing plastic waste. Our drinking water is 99% pure and we want everyone to benefit from it.
