Ready, Set Draw! Get Creative for NI Water's Annual School Poster Competition
30 April 2025 16:05

Get ready for a splash of creativity with this year's NI Water Schools Poster Competition. NI Water is inviting primary school pupils to dive into the fascinating world of clean water science. Entries are now open to create a poster that celebrates how scientists ensure we have fresh, safe tap water every day. Ready, set, draw!
NI Water’s Learning and Outreach Officer Anna Killen said: “We are delighted to be reopening entries to our primary school competition this year again. The competition is a fantastic way of educating everyone on how NI Water provides clean, safe water and the roles our scientists do every day to make this happen.
“We all rely on clean safe water every day to keep us hydrated and healthy but before it reaches our taps this water must be cleaned and made safe to drink. The treatment process makes sure all dirt and germs are removed and uses lots of science to ensure the water is safe before reaching our taps.
“More than 100 scientists work for NI Water, performing the task of checking and testing the water before it reaches consumers. They conduct over 120,000 water tests annually, collecting samples from reservoirs, treatment facilities, and homes, and bringing them to NI Water Science Labs to ensure safe, quality water is delivered through the taps each time it is used.
"We aim to inspire children through this poster competition to learn about and celebrate our scientists and their work in ensuring safe drinking water."
Entries should reach NI Water by 5pm Friday 23rd May 2025.
