NI Water work at Sicily Park continues

10 June 2013 9:57

NI Water has announced the next stage in a flood alleviation scheme for the Sicily Park and surrounding areas is due to begin today, Monday 10 June.

This stage will see ground investigation work taking place over a number of weeks and will be used to assess the ground and ground water conditions.  This in turn will assist Engineers in developing the medium and long term infrastructure solutions required for the area.

David McGrath, Engineering Procurement Engineer with NI Water, explained:

“NI Water teams have been working steadily behind the scenes to develop a short, medium and long term flooding solution.  While ongoing maintenance teams have been in the area, this phase is one of the first visual aspects of the work, where local residents will see teams on the ground for longer periods of time.

“A specialist contractor, Causeway Geotech Ltd. has been appointed to carry out the work, which is expected to last a number of weeks.

“There will be some traffic management arrangements in place, and we would like to thank the residents for their patience while this essential work is carried out.”
