Sewer Improvement Work for Cushendall Rd, Ballymena

19 June 2013 10:27

NI Water is about to commence an essential programme of Sewer Improvement Work in the Cushendall Road area of Ballymena. Once complete, this £110,000 project will be good news for the local area, as the new sewers will improve the sewerage infrastructure in the area and reduce the risk of out of sewer flooding.

Work is scheduled to commence on the 1st July 2013 and will take approximately 5 weeks to complete. The works will involve installing a new storm sewer between the Cushendall Road Cul-de-sac and the roundabout.

Due to the location of the new storm sewer, it will unfortunately be necessary to close the Cushendall Road to through traffic from the Cul-de-sac to the roundabout for the duration of the works. However, a diversion will be signposted via Grove Road, Ballymoney Road and Parkway.

NI Water, in co-operation with DRD Roads Service will do everything possible to keep any disruption to a minimum. The majority of the work will also be completed using environmentally-friendly trenchless technology, which means that most of the work will be completed without the need to open large trenches in the area, which will also help to minimise disruption.

NI Water and our contractor Farrans Construction will carry out letter drops in affected areas to advise residents of this work. We would like to thank the residents and road users in advance for their co-operation and patience during this essential improvement work. There will be some disruption and delays at peak times while this work takes place, but we would like to assure customers that every effort will be made to keep disruption to a minimum.

NI Water’s customer relations team can be contacted via Waterline on 08457 440088.  Customers with any questions on the scheme should quote “KB452 Cushendall Road, Ballymena – Storm Sewer Extension.”
