Ballymena Watermains Scheme Revised Working Hours

15 January 2014 12:13

Work is currently underway on NI Water’s Watermains Improvement Scheme in the Wellington Street, Mill Street, Meetinghouse Lane, Granville Drive, William Street and Hill Street areas of Ballymena.

NI Water would like to make customers aware that there will be a change of working times to ensure the project is completed as quickly as possible, with minimum disruption. The revised working hours are as follows: Sunday 6.30pm-6.30am, Monday-Wednesday 7.00pm-6.30am & Thursday 9.30pm-6.30am. These working hours will be effective from Sunday 19th January 2014 until the project is completed. It is estimated that the project will be completed by the end of March 2014.

The existing infrastructure is in need of repair, and it is essential that NI Water upgrades the watermains in advance of Ballymena Borough Council’s “Public Realm” scheme getting underway. This work will reduce the future potential risk of burst watermains in the area and will improve the overall security, quality, and reliability of the water supply, while also reducing leakage in the area.

In order to reduce the impact on local businesses and road users, the works will continue to be carried out at night. We will liaise with DRD Roads Service, Ballymena Borough Council and local businesses to minimise disruption. However, please note that during these working hours it will be necessary to close Wellington Street, Mill Street, Meetinghouse Lane, Granville Drive, William Street and Hill Street. Signed diversions will be in place and pedestrian access will be maintained at all times.

Reinstatement will be carried out at the end of each shift, so that the roads can be reopened and on-street parking restored during normal day-time working hours.

As with all work of this nature, there will be an element of disruption throughout the water improvement scheme and NI Water would like to thank the public and local businesses for their patience and cooperation, and assure them that we will do everything we can to complete the work as quickly as possible with minimum disruption.
There may be an interruption to your water supply during this work. However, customers will receive advance notification of exactly when this is planned.

Customer queries regarding this work should be directed to Waterline on 08457 440088 quoting “Farrans Utilities Ballymena Watermains Improvement Scheme”
