NI Water Continues Essential Sewer Improvement Programme on the Fernisky Road, Kells

04 April 2014 16:01

NI Water would like to inform the public that we will resume work to lay a new stormwater sewer on the Fernisky Road and an additional sewer in Maybin Park, Kells. As you may be aware Road Service are currently completing essential resurfacing work in the area, and we will continue to work closely with Roads Service to complete the laying of the sewer.

NI Water will resume work on Maybin Park during the week commencing 7th April, moving back on to the Fernisky Road during the week commencing 14th April. We anticipate that all work will be completed by the 1st week of May 2014.

In order to facilitate the ongoing works, it will be necessary to close the Fernisky Road from the junction at Fernisky Court up to the new housing development just past the junction of Maybin Park. A diversion route will be signposted throughout the duration of the works.  A closure will also be required on Maybin Park to complete the works. Local access will be permitted up to the works boundary where possible and every effort will be made to keep traffic and pedestrian disruption to a minimum.

This essential scheme will ensure that new properties in the area will have a secure storm sewer. This storm sewer will also cater for the future road drainage requirements on this section of the Fernisky Road, reducing the risk of future flooding in the area.

The work requires trenches of over 5 metres deep; therefore for health and safety reasons, it is essential that the road remains closed for the duration of the scheme. NI Water has consulted extensively with Roads Service and PSNI and the diversionary route in place is the only safe approved route for two way traffic.

NI Water would like to thank the community for their patience while we complete this essential improvement scheme for the local sewerage infrastructure. Customer queries should be directed to waterline on 08457 440088.
