Essential Flood Alleviation Scheme Planned for Foyle Springs Area – L’Derry

25 March 2015 14:06

NI Water is scheduled to commence an essential £830K programme of work to upgrade the sewerage infrastructure and reduce the risk of flooding in the Foyle Springs area of the city.

Phase 1 will involve laying a new sewer pipeline and manholes from Springvale Park through Liscannor Park, Kenmore Park to Killary Road. We anticipate that work will get underway in April 2015 and will continue for approximately 5 months.
Phase 2 involves the construction of a large underground storage tank and associated pipework in the grass verge at Springvale Park. We anticipate that work will start on site in September 2015, subject to statutory approvals and funding availability, and will last approximately 8 months.

In consultation with local representatives, NI Water has arranged a meeting to allow local residents and their representatives to raise any concerns they may have with the project team regarding the Phase 1 pipelaying work. Details are as follows:

Date & time: Tuesday 31st March 2015, 6.30pm
Venue: Upstairs Meeting Room, Holy Family Parochial House

               Ballymagroarty, BT48 0AZ

As with all schemes of this nature, there will be an element of disruption. However, we will endeavour to reduce disruption and minimise the impact of our works on the local community. To facilitate the construction work in the safest possible manner and to minimise the disruption to road users, NI Water, in agreement with Transport NI has carefully planned the work to reduce traffic disruption in the area.

NI Water would like to thank the public for their patience and co-operation while this essential work is completed and would like to assure you that we will do everything we can to complete the work as quickly as possible.
