Holywood / Kinnegar Sewer Network Improvements- Phase 2

20 July 2016 10:33

NI Water would like to announce that work on Phase 2 of the “Holywood / Kinnegar Sewer Network Improvements Project” commenced on 18 July 2016.

This Phase of the project will include crossing the A2 Belfast/Bangor dual carriageway and sewer laying on the Belfast Road, Holywood. Following consultation with Transport NI the programme for this Phase of the work is as detailed below:

  • Monday 18 July – sewer laying commenced along the Holywood to Belfast A2 slip road (at Palace Barracks) on this date, and will then progress onto the grassed area adjacent to the Maxol petrol station on the Belfast Road. The slip road will remain open to traffic at all times during this work, which will be carried out during normal working hours.
The crossing of the A2 Dual Carriageway will take approximately 3 weeks to complete and is programmed as follows:

  • Sunday 24 July - work will commence on crossing the A2 Bangor bound lane. To minimise disruption work will be carried out between 8.00pm through the night to 3.00pm the next day from Sunday evening to Friday afternoon. Traffic lane restrictions will be in place during these times.
  • Monday 1 August - work will commence crossing the A2 Belfast bound lane. Again, to minimise disruption work will be carried out from 9.30am, right through the night to 6.00am the next day, from Monday evening through to Saturday mornings, with traffic lane restrictions in place.

In order to maintain traffic flow the right-turn for Holywood bound traffic onto the Belfast Road will be closed at certain times to facilitate the works. The A2 Dual Carriageway will remain open at all times during the works.

  • 15 August - work will commence on the Belfast Road from the Belfast side of the Maxol petrol station for 2 weeks. During this time two way traffic will be maintained with the use of temporary traffic lights or stop/go boards. The Belfast Road will remain open at all times and this work will be carried out during normal working hours.

NI Water would like to thank residents, road users and local businesses in advance for their patience and co-operation while this essential work is completed.  Customer queries should be directed to Waterline on 03457 440088.

ENDS.
